By Order of the King is a social deduction game for 4-8 players. One player plays as an executioner tasked with executing as many condemned players as possible. Chaos and deception are the name of the game for condemned players as each player must lie, deceive, and survive under the scrutinous eye of the Executioner, while also fulfilling their own secret agendas!

Inspired by other social deduction games like One-Night Werewolf, Secret Hitler, Avalon, Among Us, and Mafia, we noticed one flaw in all of them! It is sooo annoying when you keep getting the "good" role. We don't play social deduction to be honest and virtuous! We wanted a game where, no matter your agenda, you can always lie! While the loyalists need to help the executioner, earning money for each successful execution, they also need to survive themselves! Lie, deceive, and lie some more to survive the executioner's wrath, no matter your role!

BOOTK is quick to play, with endless replay value! Every game there are new roles, items and randomised events and rules, meaning no matter how many times you play, no game will ever be the same. On top of that, games only last 10-20 minutes, so mistakes aren't punished for too long and new players can pick the game up really quickly!

In By Order of the King, each player will find themselves standing before the executioner with just a role card and item card. A "gallows card" will first be played by the executioner, deciding on a random game rule or event with a suitably gruesome execution method! Then, players will have 1 action. They can either peak at any card on the board, or switch any 2 cards. This might be your one chance to steal a powerful item - if you believe the player who claims to have it! Or, you could peak at a card and either lie or inform the executioner about what item a player has. Then, the executioner starts executing! More players = more reward! But they must be careful, if they execute a player with a pardon or the Princess, the saboteurs take the gold, and the executioner's head is on the one that rolls!

Players only get to look at their own item card at the beginning of the game, meaning the value of cards is dictated by who the executioner believes is telling the truth! Players get one chance to peak or switch item cards. Each item card has a unique effect upon execution, causing chaos!

The action phase facilitates players to take an action. Peak at or switch any item card. The Loyalists should be trying to peak at cards to help the executioner. But if they have a weak item, they may want to take a chance and blindly switch their card. Saboteurs should be trying to deduce where the pardon is, and trick the executioner into executing that player. Or, they could try to get a strong item, like the shield to execute the pardon themselves! The Executioner meanwhile is watching everything, and can control the pace of the game, stopping to interrogate players, and choose the order players take an action.

The game will be crowdfunded on Kickstarter.com.
